An unforgettable summer with the Inclusive Foundation
The statue of the great admiral from Vigo, Casto Méndez Núñez, and the Alameda served as the perfect backdrop for the souvenir photo of what was undoubtedly one of our best groups of the summer of 2017 in Vigo: a lively group of boys and girls from the Inclusive Foundation of Madrid who arrived from the Spanish capital on a trip that brought them to Galician lands, thus inaugurating our commitment and support for an inclusive Vigo.
We not only bet on a more inclusive Vigo, but we also love carrying out these types of routes to show and share our city and its rich history with everyone. They are visits where we also learn a lot, as it is necessary to speak and tell things in a much more delicate and profound way.
Breaking communication barriers
Another inclusive route that left a great taste in our mouths and taught us a lot was the route for the deaf-mute community of Vigo. An extraordinary group of people who were enthusiastic at all times about the route and the stories about pirates, sunken treasures, and mysteries and legends like that of our beloved olive tree.
We were accompanied along the way by a fantastic sign language translator, and there was even an opportunity to answer the attendees' questions.
Discovering Vigo through the senses
Finally, highlighting also an excellent Vigo free tour with a group of blind people on September 13, 2018. Undoubtedly a fantastic tour discovering Vigo and its hidden treasures for four lovely people and their friendly guide dogs.
Quite an experience and a learning curve, since talking to them is not the same: you always have to describe everything much more precisely and position the listener first to indicate whether what you are going to talk about is to your right, left, above us, etc.
"An absolute luxury for the senses to share stories with them and at the same time learn as much or more from them... Here's to an inclusive Vigo!"
